Petition carried in 1864 by a Chippewa delegation to present to the U.S. Commission of Indian Affairs in Washington, summarizing treaties with the Chippewa. Information is present regarding land cessions (including the disposition of Isle Royale in Lake Superior), and tribal rights to timber, minerals, and wild rice. The petition was published by the University of Western Ontario, 1988, as part of the series "Studies in the Interpretation of Canadian Native American Languages and Cultures."
